The stator field and the rotor field have a difference in relative speeds that cause the rotor to start moving by rotating inside the stator.. The speed of the rotor never reaches the speed of the rotating electromagnetic field. The loss of energy from the motor is dissipated as heat, Therefore they must have a fan.
